| Customer Reviews: All the information you'll need (but get a detailed map) December 9, 2008 JamesNYC (New York, NY USA) My wife and I spent three nights in Venice and this book had all the information on tourist sites, restaurants, shopping, etc., that you will need. As with all the "Top Ten" books, the format is to list top ten sites, top ten churches, top ten shops, top ten restaurants, etc. for Venice as a whole, and then breaks it down into top ten lists for each section of the city. The format leads to some redundacy, but I have always found the Top Ten volumes ideal because they contain all the information you need in a smallish, slim volume that will fit easily in a purse. This volume is 7.5 inches X 4 inches and less than half an inch thick.
The only problem with the book is that the maps are somewhat inadequate. Venice is an easy city to get lost in, and it would be worth it to invest in a good, detailed map in addition to this book. (One problem with mapping Venice is that most streets have very long names that often change each block.)
This was our first trip to Venice and it will definitely not be our last. We're saving this book for our next trip.
Handy and informative January 12, 2010 Merlin (St Louis) This tourist guide for Venice is extremely informative and can be easily taken along on the trip. Much easier than taking a large tourist book that includes listings of several hotels and restaurants. I usually have my hotel reservations and want to select restaurants wherever I am at the time, rather than having the extra weight of these listings in the book I am carrying.
